The behind-the-scenes have a look at James Gunn’s Superman that was launched again in April to mark Superman Day featured a fast shot of Lex Luthor standing beside what appeared to be some sort of captive alien or one other metahuman/creature.
Followers speculated that this might be a White Martian, or perhaps Parasite, Metamorpho in his regressed type, or presumably even an out-of-costume Ultraman. Now, Gunn has confirmed this character’s origin whereas revealing his sarcastic nickname.
In Fandango’s Large Ticket interview, Gunn explains that “Mr. Good-looking” is a creation of Luthor’s that “drives him round on a floating platform.” The filmmaker goes on to explain him as “the ugliest, grossest creature on the earth,” which elicits a sympathetic response from Nicholas Hoult.
This Mr. Good-looking will doubtless show to be a reasonably minor character, however there’s some hypothesis that he may really be a Genomorph, aka a DNAline, that are genetically engineered lifeforms created by Luthor-funded analysis group, Mission Cadmus.

Superman stars David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Isabel Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mr. Terrific, and Nathan Fillion as Inexperienced Lantern Man Gardner.
